ZZ TOP est un groupe américain de blues-rock, blues, boogie-rock, rock'n'roll, arena-rock, southern-rock et hard rock formé en 1969 à El Paso au Texas par BILLY GIBBONS (chant/guitare, né BILLY F. GIBBONS le 16/10/1950 à Houston au Texas), DUSTY HILL (chant/basse/claviers, né le 19/05/1949 à Dallas au Texas) et FRANK BEARD (batterie, né le 11/06/1949 à Houston).
BILLY a d'abord fait parti des MOVING SIDEWALKS, puis des 11th ELEVATOR. FRANK, lui a joué au sein des CELLAR DWELLERS, des HUSTLERS, des WARLOCKS et de l'AMERICAN BLUES BAND. Le nom de ZZ TOP a été ainsi choisi afin que l'on retrouve leurs disques tout au fond des bacs rangés alphabétiquement. C'est aussi une référence à leur bluesman préféré, B.B. KING.
Leur manager et producteur BILL HAM travaillera avec eux durant toute leur carrière. Le trio de pachidermes tourne avec les TEN YEARS AFTER, les ROLLING STONES et ALICE COOPER. En Europe, ils ouvriront pour IAN HUNTER, AC/DC et ROSE TATOO. Dans leurs clip-videos, leur voiture légendaire appartient à BILLY. C'est une Ford 1933.
ZZ TOP atteindra les sommets avec l'album "ELIMINATOR" de mars 1983 qui sera certifié 10 fois platine aux USA et 24 fois dans le Monde entier. Aux USA, il se classera pendant 141 semaines. En matière de singles, c'est "GIMME ALL YOUR LOVING" (n°3 aux Pays Bas, n°9 en Irlande, n°10 en Grande Bretagne et n°37 aux USA) qui restera leur plus grande réussite commerciale mondiale.
DUSTY, amateur d'armes à feu s'est grièvement blessé au ventre par une balle de révolver. Il avait mis son arme dans une de ses bottes. Le 10/10/1987, ils annoncent qu'ils ont réservé les premières places pour un voyage à destination de la Lune. En 1988, ils financent la création d'un musée consacré au blues.

JOACHIM WITT est un chanteur allemand de de neue-Deutsche-Welle né le 22/02/1949 à Hambourg. En 1973, il rejoint une troupe de théâtre. C'est en 1976 qu'il se lance dans la musique en fondant avec ses amis WOLFGANG SCHLEITER et HERALD GUOZSKI le groupe DUESENBERG qui sortira 3 LP.
JOACHIM se met au soliloque en été 1980. Octobre 1980 débouche à une signature avec WEA. Deux hits importants sortent "GOLDENER REITER" (mai 1981, mais classé en Allemagne en décembre 1981 et dans 7 autres pays européens) et "KOSMETIK (ICH BIN DAS GLÜCK DISER ERDE)" (janvier 1981, mais classé en Allemagne en avril 1982). En avril 1988, il signe sur RCA. Mise en sommeil de ses activités musicales entre 1993 et 1998. Le silence est brisé avec un album certifié platine en Allemagne et Autriche, son 8ème LP "BAYREUTH 1" en mai 1998 au son beaucoup plus gothic et avec la participation de PETER HEPPNER le chanteur du groupe WOLFSHEIM sur son hit "DIE FLUT" (n°2 en Allemagne en été 1998, n°12 en Autriche et n°24 en Suisse).
En 2005, JOACHIM chante pour ANGELZOOM sur "BACK IN THE MOMENT".
